Issued as part of the Cloudberry Classics series this is a welcome reminder / introduction to the wonderful sounds of The Kensingtons. The Kensingtons sometimes like to describe themselves as Somerset's least prolific band. While this description might have suited them well in the early 90s, it fits even better now as the singer, Stewart, lives in Australia.
The Kensingtons were a lo-fi indiepop group who released songs here and there on various cassette compilations and flexis. Despite this minimal output, the songs always wore their heart on their sleeve and had the ability to make you swoon, whether that be from the feedback, Stewart's dreamy voice, or the romance at the thought of a train leaving your boring town for somewhere more glamorous. Ahem. Yes, 'Intercity Baby' is one of their classics.
